Throughout Scripture, we see how God calls individuals to serve Him at particular times and in particular ways. Esther was reminded that she may have come into the kingdom for such a time as this. Samuel, as a young boy, learned to recognise the voice of the Lord and respond with a willing heart: “Speak, for thy servant heareth.” In Mark’s Gospel, the Lord Jesus sent His disciples to bring a colt to Him, with the simple yet remarkable explanation: “The Lord has need of it.”
This Address considers the privilege and responsibility of being available for the Lord’s service. Whatever our circumstances, age, or ability, are we ready to hear His call and respond in obedience? The Lord is still able to use those who are willing to make themselves available to Him.
We can be thankful that God’s ways are not our ways, and His thoughts are not our thoughts (Isaiah 55:8). How wonderful to know that the Judge of all the earth will always do what is right. In a world where justice is often imperfect, we can find peace and confidence in the knowledge that God judges with perfect righteousness, according to truth, without partiality or error. This Address calls us to stand in awe of His holiness and to rest in the assurance that His judgments are always just.
The Word of God solemnly declares that a day is coming when God will judge the world in righteousness through Jesus Christ. His judgment is according to truth, without partiality, and nothing is hidden from His all-seeing eye.
What does it mean to honour God, and what happens when we put Him first in our lives? From Daniel’s quiet resolve to remain faithful in a foreign land, to the man born blind who stood firm in his testimony of the Lord Jesus, this Address explores the blessing of living for God in a world that often rejects Him. With the promise, “for them that honour me I will honour” (1 Samuel 2:30), we are reminded that God sees the faithfulness of His people and that those who honour Him now will one day share in the glory of Christ’s kingdom.
Who is worthy? Revelation 5 points us to the Lord Jesus Christ — the One who has overcome, the Lamb who was slain, and the One who has redeemed us by His blood. He is worthy not only because of what He has done, but because of who He is: “He is altogether lovely.”
But what should mark those who belong to Him while we wait for His return? Proverbs 31 presents the woman of worth — a picture that points us toward the Lamb’s wife and the character, faithfulness, wisdom and devotion that should mark the church. This Address turns our eyes to the worth of Christ and challenges us to live as those who belong to Him.
This address reminds us of the believer’s living hope—the return of Jesus Christ, the resurrection of the dead, and the promise of a new heaven and new earth. It calls believers to live in expectation, holiness, and comfort, looking forward to the day when God dwells with His people and faith becomes sight.
