Jesus Sets Captives Free

Preachers Corner https://www.preacherscorner.org.uk

Only Jesus can set the captives to sin free. There are no good works we can do to save ourselves the Bible says that salvation from sin is only found in the Lord Jesus Christ. Listen to this Gospel preaching and discover how you can be set free by the work Jesus completed at the cross.

Bible Scriptures: Darby Translation

Hebrews 2:14-1514 Since therefore the children partake of blood and flesh, he also, in like manner, took part in the same, that through death he might annul him who has the might of death, that is, the devil;15 and might set free all those who through fear of death through the whole of their life were subject to bondage.”

Luke 4:16-2116 And he came to Nazareth, where he was brought up; and he entered, according to his custom, into the synagogue on the sabbath day, and stood up to read.17 And [the] book of the prophet Esaias was given to him; and having unrolled the book he found the place where it was written,

18 [The] Spirit of [the] Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to preach glad tidings to [the] poor; he has sent me to preach to captives deliverance, and to [the] blind sight, to send forth [the] crushed delivered,19 to preach [the] acceptable year of [the] Lord.20 And having rolled up the book, when he had delivered it up to the attendant, he sat down; and the eyes of all in the synagogue were fixed upon him.21 And he began to say to them, To-day this scripture is fulfilled in your ears.”

John 11:33-4433 Jesus therefore, when he saw her weeping, and the Jews who came with her weeping, was deeply moved in spirit, and was troubled,34 and said, Where have ye put him? They say to him, Lord, come and see.35 Jesus wept.36 The Jews therefore said, Behold how he loved him!

37 And some of them said, Could not this [man], who has opened the eyes of the blind [man], have caused that this [man] also should not have died?38 Jesus therefore, again deeply moved in himself, comes to the tomb. Now it was a cave, and a stone lay upon it.39 Jesus says, Take away the stone. Martha, the sister of the dead, says to him, Lord, he stinks already, for he is four days [there].40 Jesus says to her, Did I not say to thee, that if thou shouldest believe, thou shouldest see the glory of God?41 They took therefore the stone away. And Jesus lifted up his eyes on high and said, Father, I thank thee that thou hast heard me;42 but I knew that thou always hearest me; but on account of the crowd who stand around I have said [it], that they may believe that thou hast sent me.

43 And having said this, he cried with a loud voice, Lazarus, come forth.44 And the dead came forth, bound feet and hands with graveclothes, and his face was bound round with a handkerchief. Jesus says to them, Loose him and let him go.”

Ephesians 2:1-10 and *you*, being dead in your offences and sins—in which ye once walked according to the age of this world, according to the ruler of the authority of the air, the spirit who now works in the sons of disobedience:among whom *we* also all once had our conversation in the lusts of our flesh, doing what the flesh and the thoughts willed to do, and were children, by nature, of wrath, even as the rest:

but God, being rich in mercy, because of his great love wherewith he loved us,(we too being dead in offences,) has quickened us with the Christ, (ye are saved by grace,)and has raised [us] up together, and has made [us] sit down together in the heavenlies in Christ Jesus, that he might display in the coming ages the surpassing riches of his grace in kindness towards us in Christ Jesus.

For ye are saved by grace, through faith; and this not of yourselves; it is God’s gift:not on the principle of works, that no one might boast.10 For we are his workmanship, having been created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God has before prepared that we should walk in them.”
