Understanding the times

Preachers Corner https://www.preacherscorner.org.uk

Christians need to understand the times in which we live that we might know how best to serve the Lord Jesus. Listen to the following address, to discover what the scriptures say about understanding the times.

Bible Scriptures: Darby Translation

1 Chronicles 12:2323 And this is the number of the men equipped for military service, who came to David to Hebron, to transfer the kingdom of Saul to him, according to the word of Jehovah.”

1 Chronicles 12:3232 And of the children of Issachar, who had understanding of the times, to know what Israel ought to do, the heads of them were two hundred; and all their brethren were at their bidding.”

Luke 9:51-5451 And it came to pass when the days of his receiving up were fulfilled, that *he* stedfastly set his face to go to Jerusalem.52 And he sent messengers before his face. And having gone they entered into a village of the Samaritans that they might make ready for him.53 And they did not receive him, because his face was [turned as] going to Jerusalem.54 And his disciples James and John seeing [it] said, Lord, wilt thou that we speak [that] fire come down from heaven and consume them, as also Elias did?”

Ephesians 2:11-1911 Wherefore remember that *ye*, once nations in [the] flesh, who [are] called uncircumcision by that called circumcision in [the] flesh done with the hand;

12 that ye were at that time without Christ, aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers to the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the world:13 but now in Christ Jesus *ye* who once were afar off are become nigh by the blood of the Christ.14 For *he* is our peace, who has made both one, and has broken down the middle wall of enclosure,15 having annulled the enmity in his flesh, the law of commandments in ordinances, that he might form the two in himself into one new man, making peace;

16 and might reconcile both in one body to God by the cross, having by it slain the enmity;17 and, coming, he has preached the glad tidings of peace to you who [were] afar off, and [the glad tidings of] peace to those [who were] nigh.18 For through him we have both access by one Spirit to the Father.19 So then ye are no longer strangers and foreigners, but ye are fellow-citizens of the saints, and of the household of God,”

2 Timothy 3:13-17 “13 But wicked men and juggling impostors shall advance in evil, leading and being led astray.14 But *thou*, abide in those things which thou hast learned, and [of which] thou hast been fully persuaded, knowing of whom thou hast learned [them];15 and that from a child thou hast known the sacred letters, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation, through faith which [is] in Christ Jesus.

16 Every scripture [is] divinely inspired, and profitable for teaching, for conviction, for correction, for instruction in righteousness;17 that the man of God may be complete, fully fitted to every good work.

2 Timothy 4:1-5 “I testify before God and Christ Jesus, who is about to judge living and dead, and by his appearing and his kingdom,proclaim the word; be urgent in season [and] out of season, convict, rebuke, encourage, with all longsuffering and doctrine.For the time shall be when they will not bear sound teaching; but according to their own lusts will heap up to themselves teachers, having an itching ear;and they will turn away their ear from the truth, and will have turned aside to fables.But *thou*, be sober in all things, bear evils, do [the] work of an evangelist, fill up the full measure of thy ministry.”

2 Timothy 4:1818 The Lord shall deliver me from every wicked work, and shall preserve [me] for his heavenly kingdom; to whom [be] glory for the ages of ages. Amen.”
