From the world that was destroyed in Noah’s day, to the world we live in today, and finally to the new heavens and new earth where righteousness dwells—God’s Word shows us three worlds and three important lessons. The past shows us a world judged because of sin. The present shows us a world where God is still offering mercy and salvation. The future points us to a new heavens and a new earth where righteousness dwells.
Just as God provided the ark as a place of safety for Noah, He has provided salvation through Jesus Christ. The opportunity to repent and be saved is now—but this present world will not last forever.
Jesus Christ is the only Saviour. Have you repented and put your trust in Him? Don’t wait—come to Christ while there is still time.
Bible Scriptures: Darby Translation
Genesis 6:9-13 “9 This is the history of Noah. Noah was a just man, perfect amongst his generations: Noah walked with God.10 And Noah begot three sons, Shem, Ham, and Japheth.11 And the earth was corrupt before God, and the earth was full of violence.
12 And God looked upon the earth, and behold, it was corrupt; for all flesh had corrupted its way on the earth.
13 And God said to Noah, The end of all flesh is come before me, for the earth is full of violence through them; and behold, I will destroy them with the earth.14 Make thyself an ark of gopher wood:”
Genesis 6:17-18 “17 For I, behold, I bring a flood of waters on the earth, to destroy all flesh under the heavens in which is the breath of life: everything that is on the earth shall expire.18 But with thee will I establish my covenant; and thou shalt go into the ark, thou, and thy sons, and thy wife, and thy sons’ wives with thee.”
2 Peter 3:1-10 “3 This, a second letter, beloved, I already write to you, in [both] which I stir up, in the way of putting you in remembrance, your pure mind,2 to be mindful of the words spoken before by the holy prophets, and of the commandment of the Lord and Saviour by your apostles;
3 knowing this first, that there shall come at [the] close of the days mockers with mocking, walking according to their own lusts,4 and saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for from the time the fathers fell asleep all things remain thus from [the] beginning of [the] creation.5 For this is hidden from them through their own wilfulness, that heavens were of old, and an earth, having its subsistence out of water and in water, by the word of God,6 through which [waters] the then world, deluged with water, perished.
7 But the present heavens and the earth by his word are laid up in store, kept for fire unto a day of judgment and destruction of ungodly men.8 But let not this one thing be hidden from you, beloved, that one day with [the] Lord [is] as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.9 [The] Lord does not delay his promise, as some account of delay, but is longsuffering towards you, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
10 But the day of [the] Lord will come as a thief, in which the heavens will pass away with a rushing noise, and [the] elements, burning with heat, shall be dissolved, and [the] earth and the works in it shall be burnt up.”
2 Peter 3:13 “13 But, according to his promise, we wait for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwells righteousness.”
Romans 5:6-10 “6 for we being still without strength, in [the] due time Christ has died for [the] ungodly.7 For scarcely for [the] just [man] will one die, for perhaps for [the] good [man] some one might also dare to die;8 but God commends *his* love to us, in that, we being still sinners, Christ has died for us.
9 Much rather therefore, having been now justified in [the power of] his blood, we shall be saved by him from wrath.10 For if, being enemies, we have been reconciled to God through the death of his Son, much rather, having been reconciled, we shall be saved in [the power of] his life.”
Colossians 3:1-4 “If therefore ye have been raised with the Christ, seek the things [which are] above, where the Christ is, sitting at [the] right hand of God: 2 have your mind on the things [that are] above, not on the things [that are] on the earth;
3 for ye have died, and your life is hid with the Christ in God.4 When the Christ is manifested who [is] our life, then shall *ye* also be manifested with him in glory.”
