The Gospel is not simply a message about religion, morality, or turning over a new leaf—it is a message about a Person: Jesus Christ. He who was rich became poor for our sake. He came to bring good news to the poor, liberty to the captives, sight to the blind, and freedom to those who are crushed. He gave Himself to redeem us from sin and make us His own.
In the Gospels, we see the transforming power of Jesus in the life of a man who was broken, bound and beyond human help. After encountering Christ, he was found sitting at the feet of Jesus, clothed and in his right mind. His life had been changed, and he could not keep silent about what Jesus had done for him.
This is the heart of the Gospel: Jesus Christ came to save, to redeem, to restore and to transform. He is not only the theme of the Gospel—He is the Saviour the Gospel declares.
